Samsung I9000 Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy S2 : Check out the Difference

The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S was the most dominating phone of the year 2010 in the mobile market globally. With a new year, Samsung did not stop and unveiled the official successor of Galaxy S at the Mobile World Congress event. This new phone, namely, Samsung Galaxy S2 is vibrant, captivate and fascinating. The Samsung Galaxy S2 has got some impressive features. However, what is the difference between the original Samsung I9000 Galaxy S and the newly released Samsung Galaxy S2? We are not here to discuss on the battle, rather we want to see the areas at which the Samsung Galaxy S2 is upgraded.

Design and Display
The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S flaunts 4.0 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and its display is definitely hard to beat. It has got very sleek look measuring dimensions with 1122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm. While the Samsung Galaxy S2 has got slightly bigger screen with 4.3 inches Super AMOLED Plus Touchscreen which is more vibrant than the original handset. It is even more slimmer and currently the most slimmest handset in the market. It measures dimensions with 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm.

Hardware and Software
On hardware front, the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S was released with Google’s Android v2.1 Eclair operating system and recently updates for v2.2 Froyo have been released. It is powered by 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, PowerVR SGX540 GPU, Hummingbird chipset. It comes with 512MB RAM and 2GB ROM.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 runs on Google’s Android v2.3 GingerBread OS and powered by Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, Mali-400MP GPU, Orion chipset. So, it is capable of pushing the handset even faster. Also, the RAM has also doubled to 1GB and the internal storage capabilities comes with 32GB.

User Interface
The original Samsung I9000 Galaxy S was equipped with TouchWiz v3.0 which gave the device a bit if an iOS feel.
While, the Samsung Galaxy S2 is integrated with TouchWiz v4.0 offering a bit of more seamless experience with the see through applications screens and various hubs including media, social, and applications. Also, a new technology Near Fields Communication (NFC) is also there in the Galaxy S2 which allows users to use the device as a ticketing device, a credit card or the travel card.

Camera
The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S comes with an impressive 5MP rear facing camera with auto focus and LED flash. A front facing VGA camera is also there. While, the Samsung Galaxy S2 has got massive 8MP camera with a capability to record full HD video at 1020 pixels. It is also having a front facing 2MP camera with a support for video calling.
